Fractions with a Chocolate Bar

We started our Monday morning off with some chocolate!!

I have found that the easiest way to teach fractions is to read the following book:

The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Fractions Book by Jerry Pallotta and Rob Bolster

If you do not have the book on hand, you can view it here:

THEN, get your own chocolate bar, break it up one piece at a time and write the fractions out after each piece. Share it with the kids as you go to keep them motivated. Remember to write each fraction 2 different ways: 1- how much of the chocolate bar remains AND 2- how much of the chocolate bar is missing
