Multiplication PaRtY

15 of our 22 students were able to participate in our multiplication party today. At the beginning of the year each student received flash cards and a note stating our goal "to pass know all multiplication facts by Christmas break". We have been working on them since day 1 (4 months ago!). Today we celebrated the success of those who have. Those that haven't mastered their multiply facts will keep working, working, working and will hopefully be able to attend our swimming party in May at the end of the year.

For our party, we played "minute to win it" games and had a ball!!!

Brrrr!! It's cold in here

Cursive still matters!

I have been trying to get my kids to understand why we have to learn cursive all year.  We do cursive  3  times a week and they moan and groan each time. Today Dex brought a letter that his elf Zippy had written his family. The class was so impressed that he could read the cursive letter . He read it to them and now they are finally excited to finish learning their cursive letters.

iReady leaders!!

Our class was overly ecstatic when we discovered we took the lead on lessons passed in iReady math. We played the song "We are the Champions" and marched into Mrs. Heath's room to steal the bear head. We then continued to cheer and march into the other third grade classrooms to show our lead with the bear. It is hanging loud and proud in our classroom. Let's hope we can keep it!!

Remembering our Veterans

Our class wrote to 15 Veterans today and enjoyed in a beautiful program that the 5th grade put on for them as well. Thank you to all who served, and are serving to keep us safe and free!

iReady

iReady

Our class really wants to pull ahead and win the 3rd grade bear for our classroom
in grade iReady competition. If your child would like to do some iReady lessons at home,
please encourage them to do so.

They should know their password.

Remember this is independent work so please do not
help them on lessons unless they absolutely need it.

Number Line Math Task

I was a bit hesitant to turn the kiddos loose with a math task without much guidance from me but they TOTALLY impressed me!! They were able to work together and figure out how to make a correct number line TOGETHER and all on their own!! I got to sit back and smile and take pics of the teamwork and productive discussions that were happening in our classroom.

We took our first part of our SAGE test this morning....

...we needed a "brain break" afterwards :)

okay, okay, we don't HATE SAGE testing, but we most certainly don't like it. ;)
